Default I Worked At WOAI For 23 Years

I landed at the clear channel station 4-4-74. It was owned by AVCO and had a rock format. In my 20's and being a rock jock on a 50k clear channel station was a kick! I worked 7p to 12mid with an audience from Canada to South America. By "clear channel" I refer to the hand full of stations allotted 50,000 watts at a certain a specific spot on the dial. Any other station at (in our case) 1200AM Had to cut their power at local sunset to accommodate our signal. More later, as I delve into the "Clear Channel" years.

Default KXZL Radio

If my memory has played tricks on me, I wouldn't be surprised and hope someone can set me straight.
Back in the late 60's I stumbled across a FM station with the call letters KITE, I believe their main genre was classical: however, at 10 pm it morphed into KITE Underground, Allen Grimm was the main DJ.
Does this ring a bell???

Jay P I went to John Jay in 70 & 71, My initials are J P and there was one of our group also a J P as well as a D P and 2 T P's LOL.
KEXL also influenced my musical choices throughout the years. Got really burnt out on the "Classic Rock" stations which played the same 3 songs from every band. Tried a few time to make a request for songs not often (or not at all) by the artists they featured by they would say "sorry not on our playlist.
Today there is only one station that is able fulfill my requests on occasion that is KSYM 90.1 " The left side of the dial"
I don't know if you are still around these parts, as the post I am replying to was back in 07.
Hopefully, your website is still up and running!
