My son needs a divorce lawyer. The marriage is only two years old and there are no children involved. There is not a tremendous amount of dept or property. Should be pretty simple as far as divorces go. The phone book is full of lawyers but how do you pick? I don't want to see him get ripped off by some lawyer who will charge him a fortune just to do a routine everyday divorce. Anybody have any experience, first hand or otherwise, of divorces that went well lawyer wise? Thanks for any help.

If your son is so inclined - he can go pro se and find all he needs on the Texas Bar website - they have a divorce handbook with all the necessary forms. It should cost about $250-$300 to represent yourself, last time I knew.

If this is in Bexar County, he can call the District Clerk's office and inquire about fees and they will be very helpful in what documents need to be filed, and in what order.

All the best to you son...

Go to the court house get all of the paperwork (approxmiate cost $14.00) fill out the paperwork. turn it back into the courthouse downtown and have both him and her do their thing. If nothing is contested they can get away with a pretty cheap divorce.. maybe 100 to 200...
