I need help deciding which one of the following to choose from. State Farm, Farmers, and Farm Bureau. I would like some feedback on experiences everyone has had with these companies. I plan to insure both my vehicles and new home. I am getting quotes from each company for the exact same coverage. Although price is important to me, I understand that service is also important. Any compliments or horror stories would be appreciated. Thanks in advance for your help!!

If you've never bought homeowner's insurance in Texas before, you're in for some sticker shock.

My general impression is that you'd be OK with any of those companies. We had State Farm for a while and switched to USAA for a better rate. Before moving here, we'd had State Farm for 10+ years.

We are long standing customers of State Farm (20+ years) - for both auto and homeowners. We wouldn't change - even for a lower rate - as State Farm has been very good to us over the years - a couple of fender benders when the sons were getting between the ages of 16 and gone and a couple hail claims - all were handled efficiently and promptly and to our satisfaction.

Our homeowners policy is with State Farm first and foremost because we have large dogs and State Farm has NO specific breed restrictions on their policy holders.

Years ago before we purchased our home - we had Farmers for our auto insurance - our experience with them was great as well.

Sadly - you only know how good your carrier is - when you actually need them.....other times it can feel like you are paying a lot for nothing....but we've needed our insurance a few times over the years and have been thankful they were there - you won't hear me complaining about paying insurance premiums

I also think who your actual agent is - makes a BIG difference as well! We obviously think VERY highly of our State Farm agent

Good luck in making your decision about who to select for your insurance needs!

You didn't ask....but we use Germania, VERY pleased w/them. We've had a claim, they were outstanding, including allowing us to send the Caddy to the Cadillac dealer for repairs, and didn't even suggest we use a different shop!

We've had many policies with State Farm over the years. We've had some claims with rental properties (in several different states) that were handled both efficiently and professionally.
Admittedly, we're not the most price sensitive people out there. Demand professional service though.

Default Farmers-no good,

I had some trouble trying to get a claim paid by Farmers in 1998.
Then they doubled my homeowners premium overnight. By mail I was informed of the price hike. So I wrote them back a letter informing that I was cancelling the homewoners and auto policies and going with state farm.
Well the Farmer's agent called immediately upon recieving the letter and said they were going to re-instate the old homeowners rate because I was a long time customer. It was all a big mistake they said.
Right.............
I have had no problems with state farm at all. Ever.QUOTE=apal;15832837]I need help deciding which one of the following to choose from. State Farm, Farmers, and Farm Bureau. Most don't think about Texas Farm Bureau, switched to them because they were the only ones to offer home owners without difference to pets. Allstate,Metropolitan, most others have pet clauses for top 10 dogs. Tx. Farm Bureau does not even ask. Very reasonable rates to.

I've been with State Farm 15 years and with the same agent and they are great....always helping me immediately with any questions...although I've never had any claims.
