I would like to find a church but am real shy about just walking in the door. I have no idea where to go and have a hard time taking the first step.

By single adults, I don't mean that I'm looking for singles groups, college groups or anything like that, here is what I'm looking for:

1. medium/large size, enough where I can blend in and everyone will not turn around in their pew to check me out as soon as I walk in the door
2. on the same note -- I want to remain somewhat anonymous at least at first. I like to feel welcome but I'd rather not be questioned about who I am or hugged the moment I walk in
3. I prefer Christian non-denominational churches, though I wouldn't mind checking out methodist, presbyterian or other sects.

I'm not looking for a mega church but it seems like a decent sized church would help to avoid the first 2 scenarios. But I'm open to any suggestion if anyone has a church they think would be a good fit.

I'm 33, single, female and just want to go to listen and eventually maybe meet some people and get involved.

Hi rgb,
This one is exactly what you are looking for:

Oak Hills Church

The only issue may be its "megachurch" status, however, the way it's set up doesn't feel like one.

Community Bible Church at 1604/Gold Canyon has some awesome programs and groups for young singles. They have a weekday evening service dedicated to that group and it's got huge attendance, in addition to all the small groups.

Also, Castle Hills has a great singles group called Young Professionals that meets on Sunday evenings at 6:00 pm in homes at various locations across the city. People from all different churches come, and we love that! We do dinner at 6, and a devotional at 7. We'd love to have you come. For more info, call 210-377-3030.

I would second Oak Hills, we have been attending there for just about a year and have found it to be a good church for everybody, relevant teaching and many opportunities for growth.

I ran across this and had to mention River City Community Church | A Church for Real Life! it's the website for River City Community Church off Lookout Rd. behind Retama Park, technically Selma, across the 35 freeway from Costco, it's on the property where that old concert place used to be. Not far from 1604. It's really good and coming from a logical perspective. People are loving and nice but don't sweat you if you don't want to. They don't even take an offering…there is a box if you feel like offering, or giving your tithe. They even send a FREE lil' Starbucks card to first time visitors that fill out the lil' card, but they do NOT bug you if you do fill it out. They also have cool opportunities to go help people called Hands and Feet ministry, you can do like once a month. They also have a nice children's ministry, and a school, and they have barbecues frequently and noone bothers you unless you want to be bothered.
