Curious how many of ya'll are familiar with the Frio River Area sometimes known as the Garner State Park Area? Being just 1.5 hrs away, it's a great getaway into the Texas Hill Country with a lot to offer recreational and event wise while having amazing views everywhere whatever time of year it is!

A lot of people I talk to have never heard of it and seems to be somewhat of a Texas Secret. Anyways, just wondering how many of ya'll have heard of it or been here or have anything to say about this area just down the road from SA!

I know, I was kidding. It really is one of my family's favorite places to go camp during the summer, especially when the river is up & running. Garner is generally too crowded for our taste, but there are tons of other private camps near and around there.

Love, love floating the Frio river!! We normally go into Garner but it has gotten too crowded. Would love to know where else we can camp out in that area besides Garner. I know there are private camping areas but do they have like shower/restrooms ??

Yes.. Garner State Park is pretty much full throughout the summer! I have read where at least 200k stay there a year.. Pretty amazing for a tri city canyon with a population barely over 500 ppl! I'm glad to hear people have heard of the Frio and you enjoy it!

To answer sagal22's reply.. There is other camping sites, lodging, cabins etc in the area that people may not know about..

This site should hopefully help you out in finding info on these other accommodations.
