Looking for a very nice place to eat in downtown San Antonio. Price is not an issue.

Try Bohanan's or Citrus or The Fig Tree

I've never been a fan of the melting pot. Having to deep-fry your own food before dipping it in to fondue sauces sort of made it seem pretty un-romantic to me.

Ruth's Chris is a good choice, if you're looking for steak.

The better question is, what type of food are you looking for?

Any of the Brazilian Steakhouses are a real good treat too.. sort of pricey, but I've NEVER been let down.

Biga on the Banks, or Bohanan's. Rent a room at the Gunther or Menger and have dinner in walking distance. A nice bottle of wine with dinner. Walk back to the hotel. Have wine and chocolate in the room. The rest is up to you.

I see your point. I guess for some it would be un-romantic. I didn't really mention them so much for the food but for the atmosphere. (dim lit, wines, etc)

Oloroso, Las Canarias (great when the weather is nice), or Bohanan's.

My favorite truly romantic downtown spot is Fig Tree - ask for the table by the window overlooking the riverwalk.
