Hello,

I am seeking recommendations for an orthopedic surgeon for back and spine issues. I have searched the forum and either found doctors not on my insurance or orthopedic surgeons that specialize in other areas.
Thanks in advance!

Depending on what your needs are, you should also look into Neurosurgeons as well. The Spine is an area where Ortho and Neuro overlap. While you may not have found an Ortho in your insurance network, you may find a Neurosurgeon who is.

For example, Micheal Leanord MD, Neurosurgeon who is a spinal specialist.

I am going to Dr Paul Saenz right now, love him. He is one of the Spurs team doctors, that is how I met him. I played years and years of basketball, and have had a few issues lately. He takes his time with you, answers questions, makes sure you feel comfortable.

My mom (84 yrs. old) had extensive back surgery 3 years ago. They replaced 7 vertebras at one time. She had a neurosurgeon and orthopedic surgeon working in tandem for about 15 hours if I recall. She got the dreaded MRSA and nearly died and has been really ill ever since. But . . . her back is totally pain free. She went to a Dr. Johnson in the medical center. If you’re interested let me know and I’ll try to find the number. (I think there are 2 Dr. Johnsons that are orthopedist)
