I'm considering moving back to my home state of Texas and always loved SA. I'm originally from the DFW area.

My husband passed away a few years ago and I've got a 7-year-old and my 17-year-old and looking to build a new life. I currently live in Oregon and am managing several Airbnb rentals for a property owner here. I am loving this experience and it has inspired me to create my own rental biz if I do decide to move to Texas. I'm curious if anyone has any personal experience with running a short-term rental ADU off their property? I know there are special rules, etc, about building size, dimensions, etc. I'm speaking more in terms of the city's attitude towards it overall....especially the short-term rentals as opposed to long-term tenants. Here in Oregon, it was initially welcomed and now there seems to be a shift in attitude by the city..and they are making it more difficult for homeowners to do this.

If anyone can offer some info, I would so appreciate the help!

The city of San Antonio doesn't seem to have a problem, but there are probably HOAs and the independent suburban cities probably do have a problem with Airbnb rentals.

Alamo Heights is discussing, or already has, the banning of those within their city limits. Not sure if it will stand up in court but that hasn't stopped them in the past.

I have a friend that does it in the Alta Vista area and I am unaware of any issues.

Do you mean the banning of ADUs for any type of rental, including long-term? Or just ADUs for short-term rentals?
