RIP Sergio, but I think they over did it it took 2 hours to cross from marbach through 151. I think I counted over 50 patrol cars. some one could of commit a crime and gotten away with it, and I think there was an accident in between potranco and military and all those officers ignored it. and plus I'm wondering who's going to cover all the expenses....

I doubt people who are out to commit crimes plan around a funeral. Not this one anyway. The cost is not important. The honor to a fallen OFF duty cop is the important thing. He was given all honors as if he had been on duty. The cops need to pay respect to someone who could have been one of them. And the citizens of the city need to allow that tribute and respect to a cop.

Actually, most of those officers doing traffic duty for funerals of other officers volunteer and are not paid for their services. Not only that, but funeral expenses are paid out of private funds and donations.

I doubt HIGHLY that all of those 50 patrol cars were officers that were on duty. Many of them, if not all of them, most likely had their shifts covered so they could go.

Isn't that place where they hold the ACTS retreats? If so, that place is quite scenic.

My dad was Bexar County. There were so many at his funeral I couldn't believe it. There were bus loads. I asked a few how they knew him and they said they were from the academy. It was required to attend so many funerals. There were both SAPD & BCSD. I'd never seen so many motorcycles.

It still gives me chills to see so many police together at one time.

yeah me too, I thought Obama was in town or something. I do hope that drunk driver is brought to justice though 24 years old, he had much to live for... peace be with his family and safety be with his friends.

WTF????

Something is way out of whack with your statement. The Officer died due to serious injuries he sustained when he was off duty while he was helping someone with car trouble. He could have kept driving so he could get home to his Family but out of the kindness of his heart he stopped to help someone he didn't know. Would you have stopped? Not very many people, including myself, would have.

The last thing on anyone's mind should be having to wait in traffic or the cost of a Fallen Officer's Funeral. I'll assure you the City and County were covered with plenty of Officer's. I'll also assure you that they'll be there when you need them.
