No matter how strict the pre-employment screenings are, someone will always slip up. Just because someone has a squeaky clean record in the beginning, doesn't mean they are going to keep that record forever. With some people, you just never know what they'll do in the future. On the other hand, some of the screening tools (like credit checks) used by some companies and government departments disqualify people who could possible be excellent employees.

God I hate credit checks. The Credit rating system in this country is the most bogus system I've ever met.

I get punished for opening an account, and then get rewarded when I actually use it. Makes no sense to me. Then I get punished again for paying it off???

Someone sure made a lot of money off of that scam.

Completely agree.... and thanks "those politicians" that keep on voting against changing that.

I've only had 1 credit card, got my credit checked before buying my house (I thought it was going to be low).
It was so high, that the realtor told me:
"You know you are eligible for a loan for twice as much as you want to spend"
(I'm not exagerating)
