As a bit of trivia has anyone seen both The Warriors and O Brother, Where Art Thou? Notice the movies are basically the same, guys on the run, have to go through many obstacles in the form of other people, someone is hunting them, and they both run into a group of women who seduce them but actually plan to hurt them?

They are also both based on ancient Greek stories, albeit different ones, but these modern renditions have so much in common.

I am such a history geek so thank you. It is actually the Odyssey and Anabasis. Anabasis is about a group of Greek warriors who got stuck in Persia and have to make it back home.

Thanks to you too Sweet Pickle Bus. My user handle is the namesake of Merovech, founder of, mhmm, the Merovingians, the Frankish tribe behind the genesis of modern Europe.

The legend is that his mother was seduced by a sea creature so the child has two fathers, an earthly king, and a divine god. The Merovingian kings were said to have special powers, be able to talk to animals, and those powers were tied into their long hair. The last Merovingian had his hair chopped off and was imprisoned for his deeds.

That story also has parallels to the myth of Europa who was one day on the shores of Phoenecia and seduced by Zeus who took the form of a sea bull, which came from the sea, and took her away to Crete. Crete is of course where civilization began in Europe and Europe is named after her.
