Anyway, we failed that assignment because of his ignorance and arrogance.
So indicative of the American attitude today, no matter what language is spoken. Sad.

Yep, this is what I was asking about in the other thread, if anyone knows any ladies that sell Christmas tamales! They are the best!!!

Some people like to do the traditional Christmas ham. I say hell to the no! Nothing is better than steaming up some tamales, puttin' that awesome chili on top with a little shredded cheese and some sour cream. Add a mountain of delicious nachos and a side salad, and you've got an excellent meal.

Man, oh man.... I can taste those lovely little tamales right now... drool.....

Homemade is the best, no two ways about it.

I also get homemade barbacoa, less fat, slow cooked in one of those things, very good. Since it is easier to make than tamales I get it more often.

I still remember the day though that my father bought a cowhead from the butchers (not homemade), plopped it on the table on a Sunday morning, then they snuck lengua into my taco >_< but it all tasted good ^__^

Tejas Barbacoa in Helotes makes tamales that can be pretty good - but their quality is inconsistent. Ranges from "the next best thing to mom's" to " just like HEB"

So the guy asked where to get them from so I suggested the ones from those two places BUT...nothing beats home made ones period. Tellez is close. I've heard about a place out passed leon springs that's supposed to have awesome home made ones, I've never had them though.

.....the absolute BEST ones are Rubens: I was just talking to someone yesterday who always gets them from Rubens! He said you should call them - order how many dozens you like - they will put you on a list [your name and #dozens] and if you show up and don't tell them the correct name and #dozens - you won't get them. He also said the waiting line is around the entire block! So, it sounds to me like they are pretty good!
