heh heh...that's okay I actually would LOVE for my neighbor to do it, he did a great job on his parents' house, but he's a kid (17ish?) and I am uber-paranoid he would fall and hurt himself.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. Well, ya know, I don't really want anything fancy. I bought these pretty icicle lights a few years back when I was thinking "some day I will have a house." I just didn't realize I would have a 2 story. On a slight hill.

I think I found someone to help us with getting the lights up top so that's good. Not a big fan of craigslist for these types of services, a personal referral is so much better, but I think they'll work out.

I know what you mean -- I have a two story on a hill. I'm a guy in my 20's so you'd think I should have the ability to put lights up, but it's a near impossible task. Because of the hill my 24' extension ladder is waaaay too short, so I bought a massive 40' ladder and that was too heavy for me and my wife to pick up.

I've used a couple cut-rate companies the last two years, and I'm not making that mistake again this year. Just about everybody requires payment up front for both taking the lights on and taking them off, and one company had their phone number disconnected and I had a hell of time reaching them to get them to come take the lights off. When I finally tracked them down, the guy refused to do it, saying he had health problems -- he said he'd refund the money, but never did, and he never answered my phone calls or emails again. I still regret not suing the b4st4rd.

Found this great idea on the Do It Yourself Christmas forum (you may have to register to read it, but there are lots of good ideas):

Get some plastic mesh from HD or Lowes, measure out what you need to wrap your tree, and string the lights on the mesh. Use a bungie cord in a shoe lace pattern on the back of the tree to hold the mesh to the trunk.

Thanks! I will check it out. I spent Sunday up in a ladder and got the job done but not before tearing my arms to shreds (LOL there are little branches and sticks coming out of the trunk and larger branches). Doesn't look bad for my first attempt, but it sounds like those suggestions will help!
