What an excellent story! Iranian moves to US at age 18, gets entry-level job at fast food restaurant and now owns 117 of the restaurants in the local area, Houston and Sacramento!

Rags to Riches: Jack in the Box Exec Expresses His Gratitude

SAN ANTONIO -- From making curly fries to Jack in the Box burgers and salads, Atour Eyvazian's done it all behind the counter -- even cleaned the restrooms. But today he owns Jack in the Box restaurants.

He was barely over 18, when he arrived in the U.S. from Iran and landed a job at a Jack in the Box in the Los Angeles area. At the time, he didn't speak a word of English.

...

Today, with hard work, determination and a great attitude, Eyvazian has gone from janitor to shift leader to manager and now to being the largest franchise owner of Jack in the Box restaurants in the U.S. He just bought all 58 Jack in the Box restaurants in San Antonio, and he owns 49 in Houston, plus 10 in Sacramento.

(Full Story)
Kudos to you, Mr Eyvazian! Your hard work and dedicated efforts helped fulfill your American dream!

There's another story on Eyvazian from The Houston Chronicle.

Cheers! M2

Kudos on his determination. I clicked on the story and I found three comments below the story about employee mishappenings. Ugh. Jealous folks or complaints with merit?

I wouldn't put much merit into the comments, I doubt that any of those posters know Texas is an "At Will" state when it comes to employment.

In other words, if they don't like it, they can quit; and an employer can let them go without cause. They can claim they have an implied contract, but defining the terms of such is quite difficult and the burden of proof in doing so is on the employee...

The man manages a business, he job is to make his customers happy, and not necessarily his employees...

Cheers! M2

Eh, don't listen to the comments. They're always complaining about every story. Great success story though.

Stories like this inspire others with little to nothing that they can achieve success if they put their minds to it.

This guy is a true businessman.

Great story!

I admire his stamina and determination to get so far ahead. So many people do not have a work ethic, maybe it will help some slackers to realize they need to put some effort into getting ahead.

It's always great to hear success stories though I don't hold him up (or any other "exec") on a pedestal either. Becoming succesful is not some rocket science but it definitely requires a lot of determination and thought into your plan.

Those who become successful (I believe) should pay it forward and help others be successful. There are many who become successful and don't pay it forward or don't give back to the community in any way. There are some who just let the riches fall into their lap and do nothing to help the little guy.

I surely hope he doesn't forget where he came from (or anyone who has become very successful for that matter) and gives back in a meaningful way to the community and to others who could also be successful.

Anyone ever notice how a stray dog cannot ever be sighted within a few blocks' radius of any Jack in the Box?

Spoiler
It is also fast food so one cannot really expect it to have a corporate culture that takes care of its employees. Not a dig on fast food just a fact. Of course fast food is a detriment to society and should be better regulated.
