I've never had U-verse, but I had AT&T DSL and phone service and it was fine. I spend a lot more money for Roadrunner and my service has been unacceptable. Over the years, I've had to change out modems and cable boxes a few times because they would just stop working. Once the modem goes out, you won't have digital phone service. Thank goodness I no longer need a landline. Roadrunner also comes with one of the worst anti-virus suites ever. You're better off just using free ones. My connection speed right now is extra slow and I highly doubt this is a peak usage period. As far as the cable service with TWC, I've also had issues with pixelating, freezing, the menu and info banner not working, and the start over feature malfunctioning. But if TWC is the lesser of two evils for cable television, then I have no other choice because my apartments do not allow satellite dishes.

Just an added note, TWC will also string wires all over your apartment. Unless I stack most of my furniture on one side, there is no way to avoid having the ethernet cable running across the middle of my living room. Years ago, I had t.v.'s in other rooms and they will tack down wire all across your walls at the floor and ceiling.

The prospect of all of that digging and wire-fishing led me to cancel the Uverse installation I agreed to in a weak moment.
The only digging they did at my place was to basically cut a slit from the back corner of the lot to where all the utilities came in to the house. A month later you couldn't tell anything had taken place.

Congrats. I cannot wait until they are available in mine. Wondering if they are ever going to roll it out here at all, grr >_<

Let us know how it compares. I just hate the idea of keeping TWC if I do not have to because of past issues, though everything seems fine now.

One thing that U-verse has better is the ability to record more shows at once using DVR. The ability to watch any recorded show on any receiver. These are definitely strong points especially when TWC only allows you to record two shows at once and then you are unable to watch anything else on the same television if so.

They must be using a different kind of box now because the ones from 08 at least had a quarter second delay when you wanted to scroll up or down in the listings. Hit the button a bunch and completely overshoot what you were looking for while the box processes everything.

I have uverse, and I would recommend it to anyone. It's great! I was a TW customer for 9 years, and it was horrible. I have been a Uverse customer since Aug and it has been wonderful. I have had only one issue with reception when it was really windy a few months ago, but everything else has been great. They did bury a line at my house, but it was new grass, and you can't even tell now. The menu is far superior to TW. My friend saw how my set up was and switched immediately. I would do it now and never look back. HD on Demand channels!!! One of my friends is an engineer at a local news station, and he wished his subdivision offered ATT uverse because of all the features it has.

If you live in a house that currently has or previously had traditional telephone service and/or DSL from AT&T/SBC/Southwestern Bell, it shouldn't be necessary to run a new cable into your house, unless the existing cable is damaged, or possibly if it is an older type of cable that won't support U-verse service.

Inside could be another matter. The Gateway will have to connect to the line that comes in from outside, then your TV set-top boxes will have to connect to the Gateway. If you have existing Cat5 or RG6 coax cabling in place, they may be able to use that.
