I just watched a special on FOX News called Election 08: The Y Factor and parts are filmed at the UTSA 1604 campus.

The student bookstore was also remodeled this summer. It looks great, but I wish they'd build a much larger store. There are over way too many students for that small of a bookstore.

Bookstores renovation brings new look, items > UTSA Today > University of Texas at San Antonio

Along with remodeling the JPL food court, the UC food court (next to the new Starbucks) is undergoing a remodel. Wendy's, Panda Express, and Taco Cabana will be located in the UC food court. Subway will open inside the new UC. Chick-fil-a will open at the JPL food court. I wonder if the new engineering building will include any food service as most buildings on campus do.

A news story mentioned that ARAMARK would be surveying the downtown campus before making major changes to those food service options. I hope plans will include Taco Cabana or Chick-fil-a.

Looks like the 1st floor of the JPL has finished remodelling (except food court which is still undergoing remodel) - Remodeling brings more efficient student services > UTSA Today > University of Texas at San Antonio

It looks so much better!

Summer's a great time to walk around the campus out there. With few classes this time of year, parking is easy and abundant. If you like to see construction and shiny new facilities, the 1604 campus is the place to be.

Did they cite reason for changing the name?

No, but I am sure they faced legal pressures from the La Cantera Development Co. (same company that owns the land Six Flags, Westin, Shops, etc. are on).
