I would like to welcome you, your family and dog to the S.A. area and I hope you will be happy there! Hope you can find a place to live where you'll all be happy. I don't live in the city as I prefer country living. And really, people aren't all that dogmatic in S.A....yet! I'm moderate to liberal myself, but wouldn't walk around with a t-shirt proclaiming that.

Alamo Heights and the surrounding neighborhoods will put you near museums and Brackenridge Park. MacArthur Park is just up the road. AHISD is considered a good school district by most and so is NEISD. I remember Oakwell Farms having a nice trail system running through it and there are all kinds of wild animals in there.

I agree with many posts that you're own beliefs are your own, and where ever you wind up in the area should be fine. You'll find that most of the museums and activities occur within the center of San Antonio, but quality of living, space, etc. may be better on the outskirts of town (outside loop 1604). I'd avoid the Stone Oak area...it's a sea of houses on tiny lots. You may want to check out the communities north west up highway 10, all the way up to Fair Oaks, Boerne, etc. Good luck!
Agreed. Stone Oak is nice, but PACKED!
Boerne ISD is probably one of the better school districts of San Antonio. NEISD is okay, but the quality of education differs depending on where in the NEISD district you live in.

wow, is it March already? How time flies when you're reading the dates posts are made... and don't you love "free thinking" people that tell you how to think? How crazy of a concept is that? Maybe crazy isn't the best choice of terms.
