Hopefully all the good citizens of San Antonio made it home safe last night. I was so anxious when driving home and quite relieved once I pulled into the garage. Even then though I was rushing to get into the house thinking about a falling bottle rocket landing on my head.

I also feel a bit cheated at attending the Sea World "Twilight" New Year's Event. It had nothing whatsoever to do with Twilight! No Bella, no Edward, and no Jacob! <s> The fireworks show there was quite the sight.

When I lived in Missouri I don't think people threw fireworks for New Year's.
Is that a San Antonio or Texas thing?

It is closer to a ghetto thing.

A friend of mine was in my hometown (a city of about 1/2 million people) for New Year's and recorded the New Year's celebration from a building.
There's no "official city celebration" people just throw their own fireworks (I like it better that way)

Yes. The more of a ghetto, the more spent on fireworks. It's amazing. Fireworks from 10 pm - 3 am and police all over the place after the fireworks got quiet.... fortunately, not a single person was out on my street popping fireworks... it was strange... very strange.

I hope the year 2011 is a better year for everyone!

Here's Katy Perry's inspirational (and recent) hit single "Firework." So "let your colors burst" and make them say '"Oh"' as you shoot across the sky" for the new year.

I'm sorry someone else had to hear them at 3AM also. I had my bedroom window open to let some of the cool, crisp air in, and at 3:06 AM we were peeling ourselves from the ceiling. Stop the madness. Chingow. Or however ya say it.

still popping at 3am? wow. that is pretty bad, I mean, since it was mentioned earlier, I guess I now live in the "ghetto" but the noise stopped at around 12:30am here

In my neighborhood, it was NUTS from 12-1:30. Then, for some reason, which was probably alcohol-induced, at the stroke of 3 they went nuts again. It was like a coordinated strike, too, because it wasn't just one little set of black cats. It was almost like a show, and I could see them in the sky. Rat turds.

It's not a Texas thing.......Definately San Antonio. I've never seen anything like it until we moved here.
I grew up in Dallas but also lived some of my adult years in Tennessee and Georgia. May have a popper to two but nothing at all like this.
