I would like a large bass drum, the kind that marching bands wear strapped in front, so I can march around the house and wake up the kids in time for the bus in the morning. If you get to speak with the Grandpa, ask him where I can get one. Thanks.

The keyword is "sometimes." Being a musician doesn't guarantee that kids are going to finish school, stay out of jail, and stay away from drugs.

"Sometimes" does not mean that they either. What a way to ***** out stereotypes when one wishes to depreciate the finer arts and culture in general.

Please consult the data for jail rates and completion of high school as well before lumping all these assumptions together. You even attempted to link Glenn Gould to what seems like a negative view on creating music with traditional instruments when you most likely know nothing of the man or his music. Regardless of whatever your view is it seems rather detached from the points made in pontikmak's and AtticMonkey's posts.

edit: Oh my! It censored a word which means 'prostitute'.

Sometimes even non-musicians don't finish school, stay out of jail or away from drugs. And sometimes threads wander aimlessly off course. Sometimes is one h.ell of a word.

You completely missed the point. It is a stereotype to say that becoming a musician will keep kids out of trouble and it is an unwarranted one at that. The type of music the kid is playing wasn't even mentioned, not that it matters. I personally know many musicians who use drugs. Where was I stereotyping musicians? All I did was show examples of drug use amongst musicians to make my point that playing music does not keep people away from drugs. Also, how am I depreciating the finer arts and culture? I'm making suggestions on how the boy can still practice without disturbing others. You're arguing against something that isn't there.

I completely got the point of what they're saying. I'm a musician living in an apartment and nothing has stopped me. My neighbors complained a couple of times, and because I'm considerate, I took extra measures to make sure I don't disturb others. It didn't cause me to drop out of college or abuse drugs and alcohol. I've been making music since I was in high school living in an apartment.

What ya do when they start banging the drum, is to grab your Dimebag Darrell Dean Razorback guitar, plug it in, crank that amp up to about 9.5 on the Master volume, and shred some Cowboys from Hell! Yeeeeeeeeeeee HAW!

You are such a ten-year-old HotRodMan. Being young at heart is a good thing though, not bad at all.
