I writting for my husband... We are the Galindo family in which the Ximenes are ancestors of our family. Currently my father in law and his mother run the chapel, it has been in the family since it was built in the 1800's.

I am unsure of all the history so when I was just searching the internet for more info this is a thread that came up in search result. When possible I would love to give more info on the chapel.

Having this part of San Antonio history in our family is a great honor.

rudycantu111: Do you know which newspaper the 1924 article appeared in? Has anyone from one of the local museums examined the crucifix in the chapel with regard to it's origins? JoeRT

I do not remember which newspaper the article appeared. I can look through my things to find the article. The crucifix has been examined by the San Antonio Archdiocese, but not by a museum to my knowledge. The origins of the crucifix is The Canary Islands off the coast of spain. The crucifix was made by Franciscan Fryars and bought overseas in the late 1700'S. I apologize for responding so late after your post. I am a direct descendant and I will own and run the chapel in a few years. To this point, the chapel has been run by direct descendants since it's origin and will continue to do so well into the future. The next time you respond, I will have more information from you.

Thanks for the info on the crucifix. Sorry I hadn't cked for a response sooner. My wife found a book in the San Antonio library called "Hispanic Texas". It has a nice description of the Chapel and a great photo of the interior. The Chapel is a true gem of SA history.
