Bo, thank you SO much for bumping this thread. I truly fear if you hadn't, I never would have known about this place. I am SO getting breakfast at this place on Sunday when I get off work. OMGosh. It looks amazing!

Maybe I should bring a date to here, eh?

That being said, wouldn't it make more sense for these trucks to actually TRAVEL to different spots on a weekly basis? Spread the idea around a bit and see different clientele in different spots.

If they stay put in one spot, it's going to kill their concept. The whole idea behind a food truck is to pick up and go where the people are.

ugh agreed. its really annoying that they are stagnant in one area catering to a limited, specific group of people in that one place and not really following the "pick up n go" philosophy of the food truck. bleh.

I noticed that the "one spot" is right next door to a business that outfits "mobile kitchens." There's probably a synergy reason why it's located there.

In other cities, these trucks depend heavily on social media to announce where they'll be. Does San Antonio have enough Twitter-enabled foodies to enable them to set up at rotating locations all over town? It looked to me like most of the customers when I was there were 50-somethings. I doubt they're on Twitter.

So, the one time we decided to stop by for their free Freetail beer (during the hours advertised on their Facebook page) there was one truck open, no beer, and not a soul on site.

I don't think we'll be going back anytime soon.

This seems like the very definition of shooting ones self in the foot. If these 'mobile' trucks can't find a way to actually be mobile, this little experiment will not be long lived.

Catering exclusively to the Stone Oak community, as well as those who wish to drive all the way out there, is business suicide IMO. There's a massive contingent of folks in that area who would never stand in line, sit outside and eat with plastic cutlery. It just doesn't go that well with their massive stucco houses and leased luxury vehicles. *wink*

But seriously, there are more than enough open spaces around San Antonio that would fit a food truck for a day. That's the whole purpose of having a kitchen with wheels... When business slows down, you open up shop in a new location.

The way the real food truck "thing" works is, they update their facebook and twitter accounts where they're parked each day. That sort of adds to the mystique of where they are each day.

Parking in Stone Oak and not actually being open during advertised hours pisses me off.

I'm sure all these complaints are valid - but this thing is very far from Stone Oak - it's way over by Bulverde/Jung.

Its not in Stone Oak, and have you been to Austin lately all those "mobile" trucks seem to be in the same place everytime im there: Gourdoughs, Odd Duck, Mighty Cone, Texas Cuban, Hey Cupcake always right where I left them when in Austin. Get in your car and drive. If you all know how the trucks should run, let us know when you open yours and where you will be.

I'm talking about trending places like New York, San Diego, San Francisco, etc. But yes, if you want to compare them to Austin, sure.

Like I said in my previous post, I drove 25 minutes to go check them out, because I love the whole concept of gourmet food in a truck... only to find only one open during advertised hours.

Oh well. Perhaps you should open your own truck, that's actually open during advertised hours.
