I've been looking for jobs online in various places like craigslist and monster.com, but I'm rather disappointed in the selection I'm seeing for such a huge city.

Is there a better place to look for quality jobs, or are there any places you would recommend to help you find a job that are actually worth something?

It depends on the field. There are several area specific job boards but to start out with check indeed.com. It compiles all the job boards. And monster has to be one of the worst job boards ever now.

Try the Alamo Work Force Center. They have jobs, I don't know what your looking for in a job. It's just another resource.

WorkInTexas.com Home: Helping Texans Work Better.

Make an account here and you'll be able to search for jobs. It has a mixture of Texas government jobs and jobs from the private sector. You can also fill out the Texas application for state employment or whatever it's called that can be used for almost all of the state jobs (even though there probably won't be too many openings in the near future.) Have you tried Career Builder?

career builder is the worst.
not thrilled with monster either.

all that happens, from our experience, is you wind up getting adds and solicitations that you do not want. My husband is in retail management and we get bizarre "be a nurse" "sell retirement plans" kind of junk.....

Thanks for all the help. I'm currently an assistant property manager for an apartment community, but would take general administrative work to get my foot in the door in town somewhere.

As far as wages go, I'm nervous that I'd have to take a huge pay cut, just from what little I'm seeing online. I'm currently making over $15/hr, but it seems that most of the jobs I'm seeing are in the $10-11 range. That makes me nervous.

I put in that I was working on my masters in one of my resumes there and get stuff from phoenix and all those other types of schools to get my BA. Like really? And I worked at West for 9 months in 2007 and I get hits for "sales" constantly. I get e-mails left and right for "sales" and "insurance" positions almost daily. If only the jobs I really want were like that...

If you're in property management check SAHA. I just applied for a client services/intake rep with them. I believe i saw a property manager position with them. I don't recall the closing date, though.
