For those who work on base, you can call 671-snow (7669) to get an update regarding Lackland's status. I got that in an email after I came in this morning...

We follow the FEB and Fort Sam for closures... but I'm not really understanding how I'm supposed to get into work from outside the city if the highways are closed until Noon, and my report time is noon.

Telework is an option for me, but it amazes me how the different agencies don't talk. If TXDOT isn't opening the major highways until Noon, the report times shouldn't be until 1, in my opinion.

Great point, Verio. Does your boss/commander let you text him? Mine does, and i"m going to ask about that.

We only got a very light dusting here in Boerne. Nothing to take pictures of but I am definitely enjoying the pics everyone else is posting. For those who are heading into work, please drive slow, stay safe and warm.

Yeah, I asked that question... it got forwarded to the Regional Director and then forwarded to DC. The answer I got forwarded back was "We go by what the other Federal agencies in the area go by, specifically the Federal Executive Board".

/sigh

However, I was told if I can VPN in, I can telework.

I'm still stumped that everyone is saying by noon we'll be good and roads will be open. Just because temps hit 33 degrees doesn't mean that all the snow/ice instantly goes away.

I have a feeling that come 12:01 there will be accidents everywhere!

So do I! I am watching KSAT and the access roads are backed up. Even if they did get some of the roads cleared, how are they going to deal with traffic and accidents?

They won't, which is why I am advocating staying home if you can. Unless you absolutely have to be out on the roads, it's best to avoid doing so. Conditions are still very dangerous, and I don't look forward to my drive home this afternoon!

Cheers! M2

Told by my commander to STAY HOME today. We're in Building 171 at Kelly/Lackland. If anyone else is out in that area, I'm sure it's the same for you.

Woot!

As soon as the temperature goes up to 32F, I'm jumping in my car and driving back home
The snow will go away, but then we go back to having the evil "water" on the roads
