It has been discussed in this forum that some colleges at UTSA are better than others. Sciences and Engineering in particular are well-funded by grants and booming, as evidenced by the amount of building space devoted to them.

They're also starting to focus more on Petroleum Geology/Engineering. A well known petroleum company recently gave UTSA 4.6 million dollars worth of teaching instruments and software for petroleum geology.

Did you say Chilis?
By GOD... the only thing that could rival such culinary delight would be the establishment of the hubble telescope, dark matter project and the mars rover program at UTSA.

What is your motivation to attend UTSA? If you're looking strictly looking for academics, it's a good school. Quality instructors, modern classrooms, modern amenities like campus-wide wi-fi and wireless printing from your personal laptop, Starbucks etc..

If you're looking for a true college town and the ultimate social experience, you aren't gonna find it at UTSA. A car is almost a necessity, no real night life around campus, sidewalks that don't even connect to the apartments that are less than .5 miles away etc..
