I am trying to make Liege waffles and need to get some pearl sugar that is usually only found in Northern Europe. Anyone know of an import of grocery store that would have it? I have tried Central Market HEB, Whole Foods, Cost Plus World Market and Sun Harvest with no luck.

Amazon has it: Lars Own Imported Belgian Pearl Sugar - 2 pouches weighing 8 ounces each: Amazon.com: Grocery & Gourmet Food

(I'm from Belgium, in SA since 1989...have a couple of waffles for me.)

I have actually seen this at IKEA before when I was browsing their small grocery section. Perhaps a trip to IKEA in Austin if you don't mind the 1 hour drive. Call first and make sure.

They have Pearl Sugar at HEB Alon (NW Military & Wurzbach)...It's on the very last aisle before the dairy section. It's located with the international foods. Closest to the dairy section is the Asian (far east) stuff, a little past that they have European items, it's located in that area. This is where I've gotten mine, for the same reason...crunchy, yummy, Liege waffles. I searched the normal baking section where they keep their normal sugar too, and one day picking up some fish sauce I saw it on the self.

Do you have an authentic Liege waffle iron? Those bad boys are pricey.

Ali Baba's is a great place to find unique items. They're located on Wurzbach on the south side of 10 and are worth a trip just for the homemade pita bread alone.
