I was on WF website yesterday and looked at the Stores in Development page - no mention of SA, so hopefully this news is correct and their page has not been updated. I hope it is an improvement over the Quarry location, which for a WF, is pretty small. Any news on when it will open? I could not read the entire article.

I have a wheat allergy, so a Whole foods not to far from my house is pretty exciting, as they carry a lot more Gluten free items than HEB and Sun Harvest. Even though both of those stores have a decent selection. Sun Harvest beats HEB though. But whole foods beats Sun Harvest because Whole foods carry more gluten free baked items, decent tasting brands, unlike the crap that HEB carries. Udi's is the number one brand. I wish HEB and Sun harvest would figure that out.

I haven't been to Green Fields, but I have a Sun Harvest right across the street from me and Central Market is just a short drive away. I only go to Whole Foods to buy natural hair products. The food selection at the Quarry location is not great.

I live very near the Vineyard. Currently, I'll go to Green Fields (quick trips, excellent produce, but they never have hot bread), HEB (the ones at Evans and Blanco...live closer to Blanco, but prefer Evans), but most of the time I'll hit Target (Stone Oak or Vineyard). I love Sun Harvest, but I prefer not to cross the 281/1604 intersection!

For me, it's usually a convenience factor. Now with Blanco rebuilt, I'll certainly be visiting Whole Foods, too!

Oh, and here's a link to another story: http://www.stoneoakinfo.com/node/74727

OK, wait...it's going to be located right between Target and Lack's...why are they placing a grocery store next to a grocery store?

(I know, WF carries a different selection than Target...they are still competing for the same dollar)

It’s about time they build another WF in San Antonio! The first one was built 18 years ago? SA is way behind. Nice to see SA is catching up. I am hoping we will see more new development like this on 281 North.

It'll be interesting to see how it affects that Target store's selection of groceries. Will they abandon organic items, figuring shoppers will look for them next door or stock more of them to compete aggressively?

Central Market | Stores | San Antonio

Central Market is HEB's upscale brand. The link above will show you location details. (It's on Broadway, just north of the Incarnate Word campus.) I have seen gluten-free items there, but I don't follow that category closely enough to know if their selection of those items is wider.
