The quarry didn't even open till 1998 so whole foods there is only 12/13 years old. The quarry was built as a replacement store for one that was off I10 that was built in the 80s when whole foods actually was a hippie store.

Yes, Whole Foods in San Antonio started off in the former Handy-Andy space in Colonies North, at I-10 & Wurzbach.

Why does the meat section of Whole Foods stink? They all do... it's an awful smell. The rest of the store is great, but damn, that meat section is nauseating.

Does it Verio? I've never experienced the meat area having an awful smell, at any of the WFs.

The only thing I smell over near the meat section is the Cioppino (seafood stew) that they have simmering in the soup section. Could be that plus the aroma of the other soups they have over there too. Maybe that's the culprit.

I'll be the first to admit I haven't been to the one in San Antonio... but the three in the Northeast I went to, made me nauseated near the meat sections. It could be the ciopinno... hmm!

Next would be for IKEA to open a store here. It is long due. I know there was a plan to build one off I-10 close to the Rim but something happened and it has been delayed or killed.

Thank you bo. I'm heading to whole foods today, I'll check out the HEB Central Market as well.

That's the smell from the mixing of animal blood and bleach. It's pretty common. When animal blood is not wiped up first, but cleaned up with bleach immediately, the bleach chemical is actually "eating" the blood cells. Sorry if it sounds gross, but that's what it is, pretty much.
