My four year old wants to go fishing - we had a little neighborhood pond where we moved from - and I need to find something close by to take him to. Are there any family friendly fishing holes near Bandera Rd & 1604? We aren't looking to catch prize-winning catfish or bass. I'd rather take him somewhere where we can catch a handfull of bluegill or crappie in a short amount of time - the attention span is limited right now!

It's not really close, but I go to the Medina River outside of 1604 at Cagnon Rd. It's south of US 90. It's one of the few spots where you actually have access to a riverbank to fish from. The problem around here is that most of the river and lake access is on private land. You can also try Medina River Park, off hwy 16 on the south side.

Great LinK! Here's one for Coastal fishing Reports if anyone is interested. Its a great site that we use before we go out fishing on the coast.
Click on Bob Hall pier and look at the huge Tiger shark they just caught there..

Wow. What do you do when you reel in a 5+ ft long Tiger Shark? I don't usually carry my pistol with me when fishing. I'm still learning how to grab that darn catfish so it doesn't barb me...
