Ok ..this is my first try at a new thread. I have always been fascinated with Pawn Shops. I met Peter Townsend (The WHO) years ago and he told me he smashed up an Epiphone on stage that he got at a pawn shop for 20 dollars. I don't find anything cheap at pawn shops..There are a bunch of them around..What do you buy there?

Pawn shops are where you have to have a thick skin an' lots of patience. I prefer the independents, but they're hard to find nowadays. Essentially, go in and look at the date on the tickets - the longer it's been there, the more eager they'll be to deal. Generally speaking, I'll ask them the best deal they can do - if they aren't about half of retail, I'll either offer them that, or just move on, depending on how they come across.
The main thing is, they usually give about 10 cents on the dollar (tops) for goods other than jewelry - then price it at or barely below new retail. Go in with the attitude that it's "fun", don't let it get personal, and you can usually get pretty decent deals.

It was a long time ago . The Who played at the Municiple Auditorium. Early 1968 I think.. Nobody was there. This was before TOMMY. They smashed everything up at the end of the show. I walked back stage and found Pete in the Dressing room. He was "primping" his hair and looking in the mirror. I asked him..What was that guitar you smashed up? He told me in a very British accent "Oh that was an EPIPHONE I bought it at a hock shop for twenty dollars!!
