No, I would not have connected it to an eventual terminals C and D. I would just have connected the current terminals A and B, which would not have required much underground work, if any. It would have required some changes to terminal A to create a walking corridor between the the concourses. Note that they did consolidate checked baggage screening by building a new facility when they built the new terminal, so there probably was an opportunity to also build in a walkway.

We travel a LOT and really enjoy the service we have received at SAT. Of course, we are ALWAYS on SW unless going international, then usually AA. No issues to complain about at all. Think that given what we have experienced elsewhere, we have a great little town feel airport for a big city.

If you want to complain...try Romes airport....you can't even figure out how to get to the train from there!!! Then there is Tokyo where you have to take a bus to get from Hanaida to Narita for certain connections. At the airport in Frankfurt you have to haul your carry on out onto a bus to drive to the plane and then board from outside (on the old, pull up staircases front and aft) in all kinds of weather conditions. I think some of you need to travel internationally to realize how GOOD we have it here in the US in compairson. JMHO....

One thing you need to consider, in regards to AA, is that they are on the edge of bankruptcy. The employees are "encouraged" to do things by the book, and safely. What does this mean? Delays, delays, delays. It's a union tactic that is used to "deal" with management. Result? Your bags take 45 minutes to get to you.

It has been a long time since I've gone through Boston's Logan; however
that was the case there a few years ago... taking a bus from one terminal
to another.

That happens on this continent as well particularly when boarding smaller
regional planes and/or at smaller facilities.

I'd say if anything... the arrivals section at SAT needs some sprucing up.

I personally have no complaints about our tiny, easily navigable airport. But on an American flight from ORD recently, we had to wait about 30 minutes before our bags came out on the carousel. Ive never waited that long but it was raining when we landed so that might've had something to do with it.

I have had the baggage issue as well. But I love how easy it is to get to the airport, the location is great (at least for me). And at what other decent-sized airport can you pay $10/day and walk approximately 200 yards from your car to the sliding doors?

Are people really trying to compare SAT to Tokyo, Rome, and Frankfurt? Really? Those are major metropolitan cities with international airports that dwarf SAT. Of course you take a bus in Frankfurt. Have you seen the size of the airport and the number of flights in and out of there?

Anyway, we've given up on using SAT. The past 5 flights, we've driven to AUS and couldn't be happier. SAT is what happens when you throw money at a project without expertise.

LOVE our little airport...excellent service, lots of fun, AND bump into celebs on our last trip just 2 weeks ago...got the photos (that my CDF facebook friends can attest to!) while waiting for luggage....there are LOTS of worse places.

And YES, I DID compare SAT to international airports, but still like it much more than the smaller airports we travel to within the US.

30 minutes for my luggage vs traffic back and forth on I-35....not so much!

I'll take Jet Blue with free TV and free check in baggage any day of the week. Also, flying out of AUS saves me more than an hour just by being able to fly direct. It's not even an option at any price on most flights out of SAT.
