Niki's Tokyo Inn on Hildebrand for regular "straight-up" sushi. The place looks like a dive, but their sushi is wonderful. Special favorites of mine are the Spicy Scallop Roll and they have some special fish dinner that is to die for. Say hi to Pat while you're there!

For rolls, I have to go with Sushihana (mentioned in a previous post). Only been there a few times, and other ppl were driving, but it's really worth a few trips for the sheer joy of trying all the types.

Godai on West Avenue/Blanco Rd has a full menu, the best sushi by far made by Goro! and also great japanese dishes, aside from sushi.

Mmmmmmm!

There is a new-ish place in the HEB (Fiesta-something?) center at DeZevala and 10. It's Rock San Thai and Sushi. It's tiny, in the strip mall, but GOOD sushi! (And we're darn picky about sushi). Their curries and stuff are good as well.

Menu here: http://www.rocksanrestaurant.com/

Zushi Sushi at Colonnade is pretty good, but a little overpriced IMHO.

Yum! Those fish tacos look good! I had their spring rolls as well as sushi, and they were REALLY fresh and good. My only complaint is that they ran out of crushed peanuts for me to dunk in with the hoisin sauce.

Another vote for Nikki's. I've tried a lot in San Antonio (and elsewhere) and it's hands down the best.

I'm a bit of a Thai purist so am not a huge fan of Thai places that do sushi and vice versa. Stick to one country... Nikkis has other Japanese food, but I only go for the sushi.

I've been to a lot of sushi places in SA, and I think Sushiana on NW Military is by far the most consistent. I like Goro's nigiri, but their rolls are too big and messy. Sushiana's are just the right size and are very creative, plus the atmosphere is real nice there. Zushi Sushi has been the most inconsistent for me. Sometimes extremely good, sometimes just sloppy and frustrating. I am eager to try Wasabi's.

The owner of Rock San, a good friend, is actually Lao. He'll make a customized roll with your favorite ingredients. If it sticks he'll name it after you.

If you venture away from the sushi, try the Nam Ta Dear. A Lao, lettuce wrap-type dish. The flavors and textures are amaizing!!!!
