I've never had Vietnamese but I have been DYING to try some. Where I live in medical center, there is actually a Vietnamese restaurant called House of Pho on Louis Pasteur Drive. I have wanted to go to it but I haven't came up with the money yet. I will eventually. They probably have Vietnamese sandwiches there. Surprisingly, theres alot of Vietnamese restaurants in this city. I did a google search and have found plenty.

House of Pho and French Sandwiches both in the Med. Center area are the ones I know of. I'd say pretty decent sandwiches, but the tastiest I've had was in Austin. Granted the only two places I've had them at have been SA and Austin.

If you find a really good spot...come back with an update

There are definitely some good Vietnamese restaurants in SA, and some older threads with good info. I think there is even specifically one about the sandwiches. I personally like Pho Thien An on Rector St. right by Northstar Mall.

I've never had pho before either so for lunch I'm gonna hit up Pho Cong Ly. Time to see what this pho stuff is all about.

Saigon Express on McCullough has pretty good Banh Mi.

The depth of Vietnamese cooking in SA, outside of Pho, is very weak.

I'd second the recommendation of French Sandwhiches in the strip center on Fredricksberg and Wurzbach, I've always had a good expedience there. Their version of French Onion soup is also delicious, this is cerfainly not the French Onion most are used to, no brown broth, baguette or melted cheese.

Also there is a vietnamese/chinese restaurant on Wurzbach and Vance Jackson that has Vietnamese sandwiches my wife loves (she's Asian) I think its called Pho Saigon. Regardless, its right next to Chicago bagel, you can't miss it.
