But the bird show is today at the Live Oak Civic Center, 9am to 5pm, $3 admission. Fiesta Bird Mart at Fiesta San Antonio 2011 Sounds like the perfect place to find yourself a new feathered friend.

Glad to hear you found the owner! I bet she was relieved.

Not sure how far you're willing to travel, but a quick google search came up with lots of avian rescue organizations and other groups in Texas that I'm sure would be happy to help.

You'd probably do well to buy a baby bird from a breeder, for your first bird experience. A lot of rescue birds have issues, and if you bought a hand-fed baby, it would stay tame forever, as long as you handle it regularly.

True true Hedgehog_Mom. Definitely something that has to be explored and considered by anyone wanting to adopt a pet of any kind.

BUT...sometimes you can get a pet from a rescuer that doesn't have issues--sometimes they are simply surrendered by owners who have passed or owners who can no longer care for them.
