Call Rolands Roofing. They will bring out samples for you to look at, measure the roof, and give you a free estimate. Rolands Roofing is second generation, Hispanic owned, roofing company. They have been in San Antonio for a long time and stand firmly behind their work. They also carry all insurances so if anyone should get hurt on the job you are not liable. They are a first class operation and I recommend them highly- they've put 3 roofs on my home over the years and have always done a fabulous job of installation and clean up.

You really might want to consider metal roofing - especially if you're in the country. Adds a LOT to fire resistance and decreases chance of damage from hail. Insurance companies will usually give you a lower rate, as well.

Metal > Asphalt. I have a metal roof and zero issues with it.

Well, FWIW, my folks' house had a metal roof. They lived in it 35 years w/o a problem. Oh....might wanna mention that the house was originally built in 1910-20 time frame...an' that the same house/roof is still there. They bought another place w/an original roof that was built in the mid-40's...original roof, also.

IMO a rule of thumb would be to divide whatever lifespan is advertised on the asphalt shingles by two and that's how long it'll last in SA.

Or if you want something that'll last 100 years, go metal.
