I've lived in sa my entire life; and for the life of me i don't understand how alamo cafe can still have such crappy Rice

does anyone actually like the rice?

Im starting to wonder maybe this is why Alamo's sales have been slipping the last few year

I've never been a fan - I think their food is generally uninspired, boring, and unappetizing.

I cant understand why you even eat there? Alamo Cafe was such an 80's hipster trend and all those PTA moms in their suburbans still think it is great food. It doesnt even taste like mexican food.

Agree with what's already been said. Alamo Cafe is crap. You walk in, there isn't a Hispanic to be found in the place and the food is about as bland as Lawrence Welk. I ate there once and still marvel that it's still open and people eat there. Perfectly stated: It's uninteresting, suburbanite, soccer mom 'Mexican' food.

While I agree with some of the responses above, I still think they have some of the best flour tortillas around.

all it has is good tortillas!!!

it use to be cheap "OK" food, now they the prices have gone up,

the only people they get are the old timers who grew up with the place in the late 90s.
i highly doubt they keep any new client-ell

I loved the rice back in '85, but then again I was 4 and possibly ate bugs and flowers also. Haven't been since.

I was suuuuper embarrassed when an ex manager of mine took a client out to lunch there, she was from California and my boss claimed that Alamo Cafe was "THE BEST" Mexican food in S.A......I was mortified!!!! Thank God the client was a good sport!
