I brought some unfinished Clay Ceramic projects with me when I moved here, in the form of Greenware and Bisque, and I am trying to find a place or a shop that (for a small fee) will provide the service of Firing my items in a Kiln.

So far the places I've found offer that service only for the items purchased at their shop (usually in the form of bisque already). Customer purchases the item, paints it and then pays to have it fired.
Any recommendations or suggestions ?
TIA

I'm guessing Clay Casa is one of the places you've tried, since it works like you described..

I imagine the issue is that most places don't want to take the risk that your items explode in their kiln.

You might ask around at smaller galleries or put the word out at supply places that you have pieces to fire. I did this a few years ago when I needed a ceramics 'microwave' for some jewelry pieces.

Edit: Did a quick look-see on craigslist and a person is selling two kilns for $175. It's a long solution to a short problem; however, they could be resold or donated.

I actually already own a small Kiln but it requires the Special type electrical source that a Clothes Dryer uses so I have not been able to connect it. I thought about temporarly using my Clothes Dryer plug but it is located in a tiny entry space that has no room to set the Klin, especially since a firing can take 4-6 or 8 hours at a time.
It's not worth the cost of having an electrician install a special plug for a one-time use.

Try Clay World down on Houston...I've never been in, but they may have classes and kilns for public use, it's worth a shot to call them up and see.

There was also a spot in Artisan's Alley that held pottery classes, they may have a kiln for public use. Don't know if they still exist, but maybe look up the shops in Artisan's Alley and see if something like that is still there.
