Alright...

I've officially been in San Antonio for 1 year! I guess that means I'm a "Texan" now. (No, I'm not going to start calling pop, "soda" or What-a-burger, "Waterburger"). Regardless, one of my friends suggested we go get some "Texas Barbeque" as a 1 year anniversary. Any ideas?

TIA

Grady's on Nakoma is pretty good. Bracken Cafe? There's a TON of places!

You're gonna have to get out of San Antonio for some real, good, Texan BBQ. Try Black's, Kreuz or Smitty's in Lockhart, City Market in Luling or The Salt Lick in Driftwood. All within an hour drive. Make a day trip outta it.

You're kidding...Grady's? Bracken Cafe is known more for their burgers than their BBQ. IN San Antonio, Rudy's and the BBQ Station are about as good as it gets.

Yeah, take blizzrd's advice over mine, haha. Rudy's is pretty good. I've had the Salt Lick, that was great. Need to try Black's. Long drives, all, but WELL WORTH IT!

I've lived here 10 years now and Rudy's has gone way down over the years and is most likely permanently crossed off my list. I would like to one day try all the ones blizzrd mentioned and I believe both Black's and Smitty's were in the top 5 of one of the main Texas magazines list of best BBQ in the state. Prety sure they also get national recognition as well. No matter what, I think you're going to have to head east in order to get some good quality.

If it must be in San Antonio, then B&B Smokehouse off pleasanton rd. Simply the best local SA BBQ.

I haven't been in San Antonio that long, and I'd visited a few times in the past couple years before moving here, but I'd only had Rudy's until this weekend. I hit up Smoky Mo's on Bulverde Road, and it was way better, at least in my opinion. I'd still like to take a little BBQ road trip out to those other places though!

Blacks in Lockhart is awesome. And the owner was very attentive and talking with all of the diners ther last time we were there.
