What's your price range for a house?

Best schools districts are North East, Northside and Alamo Heights, in no particular order. If the house you're looking for will be new or under $300K, you won't want to consider Alamo Heights.

What area of town will the workers in the family be commuting to?

Northside is in a NW to a little south of due west quadrant of the city. North East is in the North Central and NE areas of the city.

If you don't want the newest upscale neighborhood, you can get a nice house for quite a few bucks less than you have available. NW older neighhoods should be checked and there are good schools around them.

the area my husband will be working is I think is around Rittiman Plaza I believe zip code is 78218. I just really need some help and the areas where the best schools are we have a 10,9, and a 1 year old. we are looking for a friendly family type of neighborhood with lots of things to do.

I agree with Bo about the general areas with the best schools. I would recommend you visit greatschools.org to find specific schools within those areas.

If you want to rent near your husban's workplace, you may want to check out apartments or small houses in the Alamo Heights school district, or around Northwood (which is NEISD). If you are OK living farthe away, ether Stone Oak (NEISD) or the 1604 corridor between I-10 and 281 (NISD and NEISD) have a lot of options

New Braunfels is a ways, but it's peaceful. Or other ones a lil closer like Schertz or Selma. The house rentals are about what you want. And there is New Braunfels Christian Academy, or Morningside elementary near a subdivision that has alot of homes in the morningside area for rent or sale.
