I asked a friend just about this and he told me, his own speculation, that he wouldn't be surprised if they did open one on that side of town and they opened it in City Base West, a new shopping center at Military and New Braunfels.

He's in real estate and knows a lot about that stuff.

I was also reading on this site about Halliburton and another major energy related company buying large parcels of land at 37 and 1604 on the far southeast for local offices and what not.

Looks like growth, economically and population wise might now be moving south because the eagle shale.

There's work going on there but it's not really a big enough space for a Costco. Besides I couldn't imagine HEB and Target wanting a big Costco blocking their "view" from the street. However there's new construction at City Base West - what's going up so far doesn't look like a typical Costco building and if it was, I'd expect them to be advertising it.

Chaka, I think you misread what foreveririse said. It's a cracker barrel being built on the old Hollywood Video site not a Costco. The friend is saying they heard a Costco will be built in that area.
