Does anyone know what happened to the R2D2 mailbox that was at the corner of Alamo Plaza and Houston?

I don't know, but if you're saying the mailbox was removed completely, I can tell you USPS has been in the process of eliminating many of the regular blue collection boxes all across the country over the last several years, and cutting back on the number of collection times for those that remain.

It seems like the mail collection boxes are suffering the same fate as the pay telephone.

Those have been gone for a long time. There were several of them downtown and believe also around town.
