After six months of friendly conversations, SAWS replaced my meter and gave me a fair adjustment to the last seven or eight months bills. I first reported this frozen meter in August and was told the meter would be replaced, after several more requests, it finally was, this week.

The meter has been showing a frozen value for many months, yet every monthly SAWS bill lists a "current meter reading". Each of these reported and billed "meter" readings have advanced substantially (and recently got to over 40,000 gal more than the frozen meter reads).

I asked them how they can report an exact meter reading on the monthly bill that is clearly estimated or otherwise a made-up/make-believe value.

The most they would say is that the meter was "over-read". Yeah, seven times in a row...

Anyway, a happy ending due to courtesy and patience.

FYI:

I always read my own meter when the bill comes and then compare it to their reading !!!

Its happened 6-times in the past 5-years, their reading were off !!!

If this happens, call them and demand that they send out someone to reread it, they wont do it but rather just credit you on the spot.

Remember to take a picture of the readings as soon as you get the bill, many times the glass is so dirty, they couldn't have read it !!!

So I wonder where they're getting their numbers, since they're obviously not following the meters.
And if they won't explain where the numbers are coming from, then it leads one to believe that they're just making stuff up.
