Hi All

I have a phone interview tomorrow for Rackspace. I'm very excited about the opportunity and have done a search thru here to see the feedback folks have had about the company, which made me more excited. Seems everyone loves it there.

I appreciate any tips about their interview process that anyone has to offer!

Thank you!!

Technical or sales side? If it's tech, get ready to answer quite a few technical questions. The phone interview is at least 90% them doing that and very little chit chat.

I had three phone interviews with them and only got the job for the one I interviewed in person with. They liked my suit...

It's a tech job, I'm in Ohio still so I can't woo them with my clothes lol. How long have you been there and do you like it?

I liked it, but only stayed two weeks. Got a much better job offer the same day, but it didn't start for two weeks, so I gave Rackspace a chance because I always wanted to work there. I liked it, especially the clothes, but the pay wasn't competitive. I've heard they've improved that, though. I worked there in 2006.

I relocated here from out of state as well for RS. I do love it here, very friendly atmosphere and everyone's willing to be friends. Pay wasn't over the top but within range. The atmosphere makes up for it and it's nice to be happy doing what you're doing and enjoy working with good people. It's very easy to get in touch with upper management and even more surprising when you realize they're actually listening. Very cool stuff, not to mention we're growing quickly.

Only advice is don't get discouraged, you aren't the first, and you won't be the last, you will not be prepared for the next part. And I cannot stress this enough, be honest about what you do and don't know, be yourself, and do not be afraid to say I don't know.

Hey, how is this company with Technical Certs? I have a degree in Information Systems, little experience but was going to get some tech certs to boost my resume. What certs, if any do they like? I'm moving to San Antonio next month (wife works at Lackland AFB) and need some kind of job.

Anything Linux/UNIX related, especially Red Hat. Cisco anything will go far too, but it's actual experience/performance that's going to pay off most. They want someone that can answer questions quick and actually knows what they're talking about. I think that's why my phone interviews always failed; I'm not the best phone talker.. too many ummms and uhhhs make it sound like I'm not as familiar with a subject as I actually am. In person it's much easier for me.

What about Booz Allen? They are hiring lots of IT peeps and I'm hearing they were recently listed as one of the top places to work in the US. Also their benefits are pretty stellar.
