A friend of mine lives on the Northeast side of town around Thousand Oaks & US 281. He says that there is a lack of Real BBQ joints on that side of town. He is looking for places that have a pit and cook on site. Anybody know of any?

Two Brothers on West Ave. is great. It's just up from Bitters.

Why are the best BBQ places always in the small towns and never in the big cities? See Lockhart, Llano, Junction, etc.

I found a pit bbq place right on San Pedro and Ramsey. His pit is on a trailer and you get it to go, but I must say, it's really good! He's a one man operation....

Morton's Barbecue

There's also the smoke shack trailer guy that generally sets up at 410/Harry Wurzbach. and there's the Bulverde food truck park on Bulverde Rd north of thousand Oaks. Both of these guys are kinda hit and miss.

Sorry I didn't clarify; he is not in a trailer, his smoker pit is on wheels..

Two Brothers is the first place I mentioned to him. For some reason he doesn't care for Two Brothers BBQ.

Maybe he doesn't like it. I have been before and didn't like it. The food itself was not great (could have been an off day) and the staff were surly.

Do you mean 410 and Nacogdoches? They're alright. The potato salad and and cole slaw are dry and disgusting. The brisket was a little dry and tough and the chicken is just average. I'm not a fan of the spicy corn either. Their best menu item is their pulled pork.
