Check out Laurel Canyon Ranch in Mico, Texas.
All the lots in this development are at least 2 acres.
When I visited two weeks ago,
some of the 2 acres ones were $79 - $85,000.
It is only 5 minutes
from the lake. Almost every lot backs up to a greenbelt.

We were really interested in one lot, but it was too far to commute to
work. It would have been about 28 miles to I-10 & 1604.

Canyon lake is far better. Medina Lake is boring. THere is nothing out there.
New Braunfels is great. THe outlet mall, Landa park, the list goes on and on.

That's not true for everyone. Some of us like Medina Lake BECAUSE it's smaller and doesn't get as much traffic.

True. Although both areas are nice, since Medina Lake is closer we tend to go there more often. Some great views on roads 1283, 37, 16, 173, 470, and 337.

Of course, we like it better when there's actually WATER in it!

Speaking of water....you need to be aware that the water sources around Canyon Lake are MUCH better quality than what you'll see around Medina Lake. I've been in the water treating business since the mid-70's, and the water around Medina Lake is an expensive proposition to treat in comparison to Canyon Lake. If I were going to choose between the two, I'd go with Canyon Lake area just for that reason alone. Folks don't realize until it's too late just what a PITA a water treatment system can become, especially when treating some of the more "challenging" water.

For anyone looking to re-locate, I would DEFINITELY recommend Canyon Lake over Medina Lake.
