Recently someone came selling steaks door-to-door. This seems odd. Anyone experience this recently?

My parents had someone stop by. They were interested but the gentlemen sold the meat in bulk and they only wanted a few lbs.

Meat sale in that heat??? From a cooling truck? Fresh meat or frozen? Was it inspected? That's odd...

We used to get a refrigerated truck come through our old neighborhood by a company called Schwan's. We see their trucks around the city on occasion but never where we live now. They were pretty good...

These guys are out and about at any given time. They drive small trucks with small freezer lockers setting up against the cab. Seems to be just this side of a scam. Schwan's is pretty active in the area of Fillmore & Ellison. See them out there alot.

My Wife was recently approached with a Package Deal for $300.00 plus. When she told the guy that was extrememly high he quickly cut the price in half.
I've known a few people who have bought steaks from one of the companies and they shrunk up more than normal when they grilled them. The first time I was approached I was told that they could give me a good deal since a neighbor backed out on an order. I'm certain may Folks have been told the same.
I'm waiting for another salesperson to approach me since I want them to show me therir permit for the City Health Department. Just so you all know this permit is needed in the county. The City enforces all food sales.

We're not immune to 'em up here in New Braunfels, either. They love using "your neighbor just bought from us..." I ask 'em which one, and then grab the phone to call 'em. They usually leave at that point....(nice thing 'bout livin' in small communities - we all have each others' phone numbers!
