I went to Walmart and H.E.B today and both did not stock either product. Does anyone know where I can find these please? I've got some yummy meals I'd like to cook this week that wont work without creme fraiche and mascarpone cheese!

Thanks

Try Central Market or Whole Foods.

Wow. I can't even imagine why the grocery store doesn't have those things.
Definitely will have to go to a cheesemonger or the Whole Foods, I guess.

That's surprising because I have seen it at the HEB here in New Braunfels near the deli.

I bet some of the "nicer" HEBs would have it. Something about going to Walmart looking for creme fraiche makes me laugh.

Yes, I saw it in regular HEB... you might have to look in odd places, or ask someone, because they are not consistent with placing it at the same location. Which HEB you frequent the most?
Walmart, no. I never saw it there.

Hi! If you didn't find creme fraiche today, you can easily whip it up at home. On a scale of 1-10, making it is about a 1.1

Whisk equal parts sour cream and heavy cream (combined total being enough for your recipe) until incorporated. Let it sit at room temperature for 1 to 1-1/2 hours until thickened. The finished texture should resemble yogurt. Then stir in a few drops of vanilla, a pinch of salt and a few teaspoons of sugar (1 tsp per 1/2 cup creme fraiche).

That's it!

I know I've seen both at the H-E-B Plus on 281 at Evans. My wife bought some marscapone there, in fact.

I'll try a different HEB then, I hunted everywhere in the one at Bandera last night and couldn't find any creme fraiche. Thanks everyone :]

Someone told me about a farmers market that might stock the cheese I'm after.. The New Braunfels market still goes on, right?
