The first thing I would like to do is take a 1-2 week cruise to relax and mull my options. Long term, I would upgrade house and vehicle, otherwise just live on it, more traveling perhaps... wish me luck!

5 million isn't all that much. Here's what I would do.

1. Pay off all of my own, my family's, and perhaps some of my friends' debts.
2. Buy a nice sized piece of land (15 acres should be enough).
3. Build awesome homes for my family on that land, completely paid. This would mostly be my in-laws (yes, I like them that much) as most of my blood family lives elsewhere.
4. Splurge on a few nice but not ridiculous things.
5. Invest the rest, let it build up again, and eventually retire off the interest.

It would completely ruin my life. I need all of the craziness to keep me alive. I would solve all my problems by throwing money at them. Then what would I do?

Quit my job, sell my house, move to Austin, buy a second home in Terlingua, visit my ancestral home in Germany, visit long lost relatives in New Zealand and NYC, go back to college for a fine arts degree and enjoy my freedom.
