Saw the NY Times article and remembered I was the OP for this post!

I would not be surprised that the base is affiliated with the CIA somehow. However, it's no big deal. Lots of bases around the country are affiliated with the CIA. Job descriptions for personnel that work at Camp Stanley can be found on usajobs.gov and they often deal with IEDs and counter-IED training, as well as skills such as knowledge of AK47s and more. The only bad thing about this new article is that now more people will find out about the Boerne/Hill Country area and want to move there!

The counter IED training is done on Camp Bullis. It is important to note they are two separate Installations.

I have never seen a job offered on usajobs.gov that involved knowledge of the AK-47. Trust me, I would have noticed. Next time you see one, post a link to it here...

Any IED parts that are allegedly shipped to Camp Stanley are completely separate and unrelated to the counter IED training that occurs on Camp Bullis. Again, two separate Installations. Stanley is a storage facility and Bullis is a training site.
