Surprised this thread went a whole day without the Battlestar Galactica reference.

I used up my daily nerd quotient earlier when I called a FB pal on his use of "red shirt" as the one who dies first...

My brother has lived in Cuero for many years and he said that the traffic there has become a nightmare since the fracking started. He said that there are no rental properties available and most everyone seems to clear out on the weekends.

Thanks to all. I was also surprised at how long it went before a BSG reference. Does anyone have any idea what rentals are going for? I saw in the comments they're hard to come by. Assuming I could find a house to rent what do you think I'd end up paying?

Rentals in Cotulla? You're lucky to find a hunting lodge. Closest "bigger" town would be Pearsall. BTW - Cotulla/Los Angeles, TX annually sets records for being the hottest place in the state of Texas. Seriously....whatever you are setting up....bring your own building, AC and lots of water. AND....snake and scorpion repellant!

That's about as rough as it gets in Texas....unless you're in the wide open desert.

You might try outside of Yorktown too.

All the folks I know down there are not pleased at all. Before these companies showed up they were typical small TX towns. Now traffic is terrible, the grocery stores run out food/toiletries/etc on a frequent basis, and there is literally nowhere to live down there. And Pearsall is no better than Cotulla. I lived in both towns and they are very similar. And don't get me started on the water use for fracking during our current drought.

Well, that's not good. Gotta have a roof over my head....hmmmm... will be in Texas and out there next month regardless. Maybe the local priest can help me locate somewhere to live.

Anything else that anyone thinks might be useful?
