With the expansion news released by TJ, it is probably not an "if" but more of a "when" it will happen here in San Antonio. It may take awhile or it could be next month. Who knows?

More people care than you think my friend.

Stop being so negative and rude about it.

I care... I can certainly survive without one (although my HEB seems to be phasing out products I typically buy, such as fairly standard fare like orzo and dry tortellini, in favor of conchitas and the like... which has forced me to go to Super Walmart on more than one occasion, and that is a store I truly detest), but have quite a few favorite items from TJs and would welcome their arrival. Was also at the store in Omaha just last month when visiting family and stocked up on a few things - that store is fairly typical of the size of most TJs, though have seen some larger... Did hear from a staff member about the purported upcoming stores in Dallas area, Houston (Woodlands), with S.A. following... but did not post here then since it is not "official" (Are people not believing they will be in Texas at all or just not in S.A.? If not believing they will be in Texas at all, I do wonder why TJs is interviewing folks for imaginary management spots, although I suppose the employee could have been making up a very detailed story for the benefit of a stranger...) and it seems to evoke some strong (negative) emotions for just being a store. Anyway, I would welcome TJs if it does come to town, but we travel quite often to Dallas and Houston and would be happy shopping at those locations as well.

Wow, maybe if we all hold hands, close our eyes and wish really hard, one day our dream will come true and we'll be graced with a Trader Joe's!!!

It's akin to the belief that we can't survive unless we get an In 'N Out Burger here, it's simply ludicrous that people get wrapped up about a certain chain when there are others that offer similar products already.

But I guess SeaWorld and Six Flags aren't enough for some, San Antonio isn't complete until we get a Disney World.

Or a better skyline!

I guess Trader Joes should sell ammo on the side so you would stop griping about others wanting one here.

Interesting analogy, as we already have several stores selling ammo already in San Antonio (Academy, Walmart, plus the myriad of gun stores in the city); so why would we need another one?!?

But I guess it will be like the Krystal Hamburger places that showed up, they were extremely popular for about six months than a year later they were both closed. Why do you think that was? Because San Antonio already has plenty of restaurants that sell hamburgers!

If Trader Joe's ever shows up here, I suspect it too will be blessed by the initial enthusiasm that such places have at first; then most folks will go back to shopping at HEB and Walmart and it will be a ghost town.

By the way, I would predict the same for IKEA, In 'N Out Burger, and a number of other "must have" businesses that the odd few would make San Antonio a much better place to live...

TJ has amazing frozen oatmeal. Can't find anything as good here in SA's grocers.

Yep. San Antonio is status quo of the world. Anything new and different is immediately shot down and the locals begin pounding their chest shouting crap about the Alamo and Spurs, then go back to chugging Lonestar Beer and waiting for the next gun show to come to town.

Couldn’t agree more. Glad there is someone who sees that because the locals certainly don’t.

One thing about TJs is that their products have consistently come out on top of many taste tests AND product reviews in the past 10 years. For example, their oatmeal, mozzarella cheeses, cookies, etc have been ranked extremely high for grocery store brand. You definitely will not find this level of quality with HEB, Target, Walmart, and possibly even Whole Foods.

I have also heard that their ammo is better quality, shoots better, and 10% of the sale goes to supporting the local gun shows.

Kidding aside, I love their cookies. I wish I had some right now.
